I received a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Directing and Design from Baylor University in 1989. In 1993, after working for several years in Broadcasting, I returned to school at TWU to obtain my teacher certification and began teaching at the elementary level in Dallas. When my own children were diagnosed with learning difficulties, including dyslexia and autism spectrum disorder, I dedicated myself to learning everything I could to help them and decided to transition from the classroom to serving these exceptional students.
I trained in academic language therapy through LEAD, Inc. in Dallas and received a master’s degree in Educational Technology Leadership from Lamar University in 2016. I have been a Certified Academic Language Therapist since 2013 and a licensed dyslexia therapist in Texas since 2017. I served as a dyslexia specialist in Keller ISD 2012 - 2021. In 2018, I began working with Ruth Ann Jewell of Jewell Educational Services to provide dyslexia training to teachers across the state of Texas. Ruth Ann is now retiring, and I have taken over the training side of the business. Most recently, I completed the course work as a Qualified Instructor. Teachers that I train are eligible to work toward their license as a CALP.
